Fruity Fairy Wands!

Fruit Fairy Wands!

We made some delicious fruit fairy wands today. Daisy was so funny, she kept eating the fruit she was supposed to be building the kebab with!!

Ingredients:
  • Watermelon slices.
  • Blueberries (or grapes)
  • Cake pop sticks (or a skewer, I didn't trust Daisy not to stab herself with it!)
  • Star cookie cutter (or heart or butterfly)
Directions:
  • Take the slice of watermelon and use a cookie cutter to cut a shape for the top of the wand (we used a star).
  • Get the cake pop stick and thread on the blueberries.
  • Add the watermelon star.
  • Cast a spell and enjoy!

Tiny Babies.

I have recently crocheted some baby hats and mittens for a friend of mine who is expecting a baby boy next month.

Making these reminded me of how teeny tiny newborns are, especially as I watch my two year old dressed as buzz light-year, and four year old dressed as a pirate, charge around the living room creating stories and adventures...

These are very simple to create, I made the hats in about fifteen minutes each.  I love the little ribbons threaded through the wool, it makes them look so special.

Chalk Picture.

A lovely picture that Lily made for Granny. We experimented with some chalks on black card. Lily loves using chalks and rubbing them onto her hands.

Some other brilliant chalk activities we are going to try are:

Painting with chalk and water
Pavement chalk skip counting games
Chalk alphabet garden
Crushed chalk art

Does anyone else have any ideas using chalk??? It really is Lily's favourite art material...

Birthday Bag!

It was my Dads Birthday at the weekend so the girls made a special gift bag to put his presents in. It was easy to make, painted handprints, the girls writing their own names, and a Mummy written message. He was so pleased with the personal touch, especially as Daisy has only just learnt to write her name.

Mickey Mouse Crispy Cakes

We made these delicious Mickey Mouse crispy cakes. The girls love watching anything Disney, which as a "Disney person" I do encourage. (much better than having to watch Peppa Pig again!)
So having watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in the morning we decided to make some Mickey inspired treats, we have made enough to share with all our friends at dance class that afternoon.

The instructions: (which are VERY EASY)
  1. Melt the chocolate in the microwave (we made some milk, and some white).
  2. Mix in rice crispies or coco pops until they are all covered in chocolate.
  3. Spray the inside of a Mickey Mouse cookie cutter with spray oil, and place it on a chopping board covered in cling film.
  4. Put the crispy mix inside and flatten with a spoon.
  5. Pop it in the freezer for five minutes until firm.
  6. Gently push it free from the cutter.
  7. Eat!!!! (or pop into paper bags to share if you want to....)
Lily taking the mixing very seriously.
Daisy is desperate to start munching on them.

The finished Mickey Mouse crispy cake. Yummy!!!

Bookmarks and Nachos....

We are having a lovely relaxing weekend so far.

The girls have made some beautiful bookmarks, which I will laminate for them to give as gifts to their cousins next weekend. (Finished pictures will be taken once they have been laminated). It was as easy as strips of paper, crayons and some toddler imagination, which explains the picture of a flower growing out of Granddads head!

Colouring in fun.

Some of the finished bookmarks.

Then the girls decided to have a lazy afternoon watching the football with Daddy, which I loved because it gave me time to work on the quilt I have started making from the girls baby clothes.....
Of course though, any good sporting event needs snacks, so we made some nachos. They were super easy to make too, the girls really enjoy sprinkling cheese onto things!
  1. Pour tortilla chips onto a baking tray.
  2. Sprinkle over cheese.
  3. Put into a hot oven for 5 minutes (until the cheese is melted)
  4. Serve with salsa and sour cream.
  5. ENJOY!!!

The finished nachos.

Tucking in (and dripping sour cream everywhere...)

Making Memories.

The girls enjoyed spending some time with their great grandparents (Nanny and Granddad Shep Shep) at the weekend. Daisy gave them some wonderful "nuddles", and Lily was telling them all about dance class. Wonderful memories, and photographs that I will treasure....

Rainbow Fun!!

We love rainbows in this house, and often need to persuade Lily that we just don't have time to find the end of the rainbow before dance class. LOL! But we did have time to create these beautiful rainbow decorations.

Rainbow Rainbow Go Go Go!

They were so easy to make too:
  1. Cut a paper plate in half.
  2. Paint rainbow colours on the plate.
  3. Stick on some cotton wool clouds.
  4. Tape some string to the back so it hangs up.
  5. Show it to everyone you know!
I'm so happy with my rainbow....
Look Mummy it's spinning!!!!
